On New Year’s Day, many people make a resolution to lose weight by moving more and dieting. At the Healthy Weight Clinic, we are committed to the success of your weight loss program. Therefore, we thought to offer you 6 tips so that you can stick to your resolution in 2019!
1. Choose the right type of diet
Start by choosing a weight loss diet that you won’t have too much trouble sticking to. Ask our specialists to find out which diet (protein, low-calorie or balanced) best suits your expectations and your lifestyle.
2. Set realistic goals
Significant and almost instantaneous weight loss does not exist! To lose weight healthily, set yourself realistic goals. If you have too high expectations, you might get discouraged and give up. So figure out a reasonable amount of weight to lose by early summer, for example.
3. Take it gradually
Don’t let your motivation go up in smoke in just a few days because you started your diet drastically. Take it little by little, eating more and more healthy meals and gradually depriving yourself of what is more caloric. By changing your diet at a slower pace, you will create lasting habits!
4. Evaluate your progress
To maintain your motivation, regularly assess your progress. Weigh yourself weekly, for example, and record your results. Take pride in every pound you lose and watch your goal become more concrete as the weeks go by. You will see, your motivation will be increased tenfold!
5. Stay hydrated
Drink your recommended amount of water per day (about 2 liters) and consider having a glass of water before meals to prevent yourself from overeating. This little trick will increase your feeling of fullness and you will measure your hunger more.
6. Engage in physical activity
Work out at home or sign up for a training program or group sport. Sometimes it’s easier to motivate yourself when you’re not alone. The important thing is that you enjoy moving!
