The holiday season puts a strain on your food motivations. With the hearty meals that follow one another, it is sometimes difficult to stick to your weight loss plan. At the Healthy Weight Clinic, we believe that this time of year should not prevent you from enjoying the pleasures of the table. So we’ve put together some tips to help you avoid weight gain.
Before meals
The previous days, continue to eat a balanced and healthy diet. Set your limits ahead of time to decrease the temptation to refill yourself. At least an hour before a meal, consider eating a healthy snack, such as a protein bar. A protein supplement will keep you going for longer, and you will be able to turn away from mouthwatering appetizers more easily!
During meals
Are you responsible for the dinner? Take the opportunity to concoct some healthy and nutritious recipes! Opt for lean meats and less “decadent” desserts, such as sorbet or fruit salad. Also remember to put the sauces in separate containers.
Are you the person who is received? Try to serve yourself and eat in reasonable amounts of the foods you want. Once at the table, savor every bite without rushing. This will give your brain time to assess your satiety. If you’re not hungry after the main course, skip dessert.
In any case, drink more water than other drinks, which are sweeter and higher in calories. Always favor less fat and more nutritious foods.
After meals and at all times
Have you gained weight? Act quickly and its loss will be made easier. If you succumb to the temptation, be able to stop immediately so you can get back on your feet quickly. Always make sure you are well rested because you will have more energy and less need to eat. Also take the time to be physically active to burn off your energy, at least 15 minutes a day. You will more easily keep the line.
